Australia’s peak rail authority is battling to protect billions of dollars worth of investment in the safety of national rail networks, which is under siege as the carriers scramble for scarce Long Term Evolution spectrum resources.
Australasian Railway Association chief executive Bryan Nye said state rail authorities had invested $500 million in a unified national radio safety network dependent on the 1800MHz spectrum and that billions more had been slated for the project.
